More buddies on the blog?

I started this blog for a variety of reasons.

1. The internet is now a landscape of walled gardens and evil homeowner associations, and emerging evil walled gardens (Substack). I miss the years of my childhood when self-publishing and blogs felt like a new wave of openness and self-expression. When the gatekeepers came down, and when posters could be in control. Long story short - I have nostalgia for blogs, blogging, and a lot associated with the bygone era of the early internet.

2. I want to be better at writing. Daily print reporting can be a frightfully formulaic business. Especially as we continue to make inroads with large language models, I believe being able to develop your own human voice and to develop an ability to write things like book reviews, trip reviews, or explainers of bus route numbers is a real power and skill to be developed.

3. And more personally, I struggle to be open and to express myself. It's something I want to be better at. I want to be better at that with the people I'm already close with, and hopefully be able to do that with people I'll one day be close with. This is a way to work on that — to put something honest out into the world (by that, I mean a very limited audience lol) and let people find it and to judge me accordingly.

Now, I'm contemplating adding some more people to this blog.
